From the Desk of the Director
Scholars’ Yard is conceived with the objective of providing a boarding school environment that gives students the complete joy of education during the process of growing up. We recognize that in education, the journey is as important as the destination. At SY, this journey will be a voyage of discovery.
The fundamental objective of SY is to create and sustain an environment in which the child can learn, explore and discover his own self and understand his potential. We attempt to achieve this by providing the three vital components in the shaping of the child:
Values, Knowledge, and Vision
- Foster, mature and caring behavior of high standards.
- Kindle has such a love for learning that a student becomes a willing and eager learner.
- Make the boarding school experience truly enjoyable and enriching.
SY offers a comprehensive learning environment, with personal freedom and the richness of varied activities. The SY philosophy translates to adventure in the classroom through
4 Encouraging the joy of mastering new skills and concepts to experience personal satisfaction and make
Learning more effective
The philosophy of the school rests on shaping responsible children; hence the emphasis is on self-discipline.
There is no corporal punishment at Scholars Yard.
Children are encouraged to analyze and correct their own behavior, through a carefully evolved participatory discipline policy.
Discipline guidelines are framed with student participation to ensure the emotional and physical safety of the children and also nurture their sense of values.
Effective classroom discipline is primarily achieved through a well-planned and stimulating curriculum. All staff members use effective strategies to encourage positive behavior and deal with disruptive behavior. True education has to reveal what is already present in the children, to instill in them the will to conquer the future, rise high, and move smoothly towards glory.
The ultimate aim of education must be to enable the child’s mind to be a positive force, which moves ahead turning itself into a fountainhead of knowledge. Its purpose must be to assimilate and not merely to accumulate.
Education for the youth must guide them to love to win and here to sin. It has to lead them to commitment toward constant self-improvement. It must inculcate in them the key to success, that is,
